REAL WEDDING - ROSIE & MICHAEL - A BLUSH PINK DRESS FOR A LOVELY LANCASHIRE WEDDING

I love it when brides go for colourful wedding dresses, and today's bride Rosie proves that a non-traditional shade can still give you a classically beautiful bridal look. Rosie looks sensational in her Stella York gown, and the soft blush shade gives it an extra touch of romance.

Rosie and Michael got married in their local church in Lancashire and had their reception in Rivington Hall Barn, an atmospheric Saxon barn in Bolton. Rosie says their priority was to make sure their guests were entertained and it's clear from these photos that their efforts paid off - the whole day looks like such fun!

Speaking of the photos, Rosie and Michael chose the brilliant Emma Billsborough - a fine art wedding photographer based in Lancashire (and who also got married at Rivington Hall Barn!). Emma's beautiful photos really capture the romantic feel of the day, with the soft tones perfectly complementing Rosie's gorgeous dress and the blush and white colour palette of the day.

Thanks so much Rosie and Michael for sharing your beautiful day with us! xx

HOW THEY MET

We met in a nightclub in Preston - Lava Ignite - and had a dance off!

THE PROPOSAL

My sister got married on my birthday so Michael wanted to pinch her day - he had planned to ask me on her birthday but chickened out when he saw all the people there. So he asked me the following day whilst I was babysitting my nephew. He asked me if I wanted lunch bringing and he brought a duck wrap, water, crisps and A RING!

THE WEDDING VENUE

Rivington Hall Barn. I've been brought up in Rivington so it's home to me. I have always loved the barn and my mum used to know the family who run it so I knew we'd be in safe hands. They were all fantastic.

THE VIBE

I'm not very 'over the top' with anything - my mum has always taught us that less is more. I really wanted to stay classy with everything and quite simple. We were very conscious of entertainment to make sure people were entertained - but the most important thing (as cringy as it sounds) was the ceremony - as long as we were married nothing else mattered.

THE BRIDE

A Stella York gown bought from Ava Rose Hamilton. When we went shopping my mum made a comment on the way and said 'what about not going for white or ivory' - I thought she was mad. When we got there, there was lines of white and ivory dresses everywhere and amongst them all a blush pink dress was sticking out. I decided to try it on just to see what it was like and I loved it.

We bought the veil from the dress shop and it was very plain but lovely. I then borrowed the hair clip my sister used for her wedding. Again, I borrowed my sister's earrings - that's all I wore - I'm a plain Jane.

Sandals from Accessorize - all about comfort.

THE GROOM

Suit - We can't remember!!!

Accessories - Mainly from Next.

THE RINGS

Michael bought the engagement ring from Beaverbrooks so we went back there for our wedding bands.

THE BRIDESMAIDS

My sister, Jennie, my sister-in-law, Colette and my best friend, Steph.

THE FLOWER GIRLS AND PAGE BOYS

My niece, Luchia and my nephew, Teddy.

THE BEST MAN AND USHERS

Michael's dad, Alan, was best man and Joe and Scott, Michael's best friends, were ushers.

THE PHOTOGRAPHY

Emma Billsborough. She photographed my sister's wedding so I knew she was amazing.

THE VIDEOGRAPHY

Jodie Canwell. My old neighbours had Jodie video their wedding so we chose her after having a nosey at their video. When I watched some of the other videos I ended up crying at a couple I didn't even know so knew she was amazing!

THE FLOWERS

My lovely Godmother did them for me as our gift. I knew she was amazing at floral displays so I trusted her 100% to choose the flowers and make the arrangements - it was stress free!

THE HAIR AND MAKE-UP

Olivia Naylor did my make-up - she had done my friend's bridal make-up and she is so talented.

My hair was styled by Thompson Style in Chorley - my husband gets his hair cut here so he told me they do bridal pin ups. I was very relaxed so didn't bother with a trial - the girls were fab and did all our hair perfectly.

THE CAKE

Finch Bakery - they are just AMAZING! And I knew exactly what I wanted.

THE FOOD

The Barn did our catering - walnut and cheese tart, chicken and veg, and lemon millefeuille - yummy!

THE ENTERTAINMENT

Entertainment during the drinks reception and meal provided by Wayne Farrow Wedding Singer.

The Natterjacks were our band and we also used the Barn's recommended DJs. I had seen The Natterjacks a few times so knew how fab they were - my husband loved them.

THE TRANSPORT

We walked through the village .

THE STATIONERY

We bought the majority from Etsy and printed it all off ourselves. I just looked for pretty delicate stationery.

THE DECOR

We wanted it quite simple and delicate. We stuck to a white and blush theme with everything and tried to use floral patterns where we could.

The Word Is Love supplied our big Mr and Mrs Thomson letters.

THE ACCOMMODATION

We stayed at home - it's the only place we sleep well.

THE WEDDING MORNING

We went to my sister's and a few of us had some breakfast while we got ready.

THE CEREMONY

Our vicar had married my sister and christened my nephew so we had gotten to know him fairly well. He is THE LOVELIEST man in the world! So we knew we were in safe hands and he made the whole lead up and ceremony fun and relaxed. We stuck to the traditional vows - we were so worried we'd get it wrong. We had two of our best friends do readings and then our mothers read some prayers. I can't actually remember what music we ended up having!

THE TIMINGS

We got married a little later (at 2pm) just because I hate any waiting around. The whole day was seamless and there never felt like there was a lull.

THE FAVOURS

We donated money to Derian House is memory of Michael's late grandma and also to the RSPCA because I love animals.

THE SPEECHES

Michael's dad (best man), my brother (on behalf of my nervous dad) and Michael.

THE FIRST DANCE

We danced to One and Only by Adele - Michael is a big fan.

THE BEST BIT

Seeing Michael at the altar.

DID YOU ENJOY WEDDING PLANNING?

I enjoyed it and wasn't stressed at all until 3 weeks before - it felt like everything was all happening at once! But it was so worth it. I own a wedding venue so I am now able to empathise with any couples who are feeling the stress.

WHERE DID YOU GET INSPIRATION FROM?

Pinterest was my main 'go to' - it's just full of ideas.

ANYTHING YOU WOULD DO DIFFERENTLY?

Try not to get as stressed about the smaller details but other than that, nothing.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES

Relax - all the little niggles won't matter on the day - all that matters is that you're married.
